Computing Derivatives

Being able to define a derivative is not the same as being able to compute one. This chapter breaks differentiation into a handful of operable rules: the basic arithmetic and product rules, the chain rule for composite functions, separate procedures for implicit and parametric equations, the inverse-function differentiation formula, and repeated application of the rules to higher-order derivatives. With these in hand you can take apart a function you have never seen before and work through it in an orderly way.
